UPDATE: Pilot’s Body Found After Wednesday Plane Crash In Kansas

The pilot of a small plane that crashed near Winfield in south-central Kansas has been found dead about three-quarters of a mile from the crash site.

The plane went down shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday between the Cowley County towns of Udall and Atlanta, and the body was found hours later.

Officials say the fixed-wing plane is registered to a person in Denton, Texas, but took off from northern Kansas.

No other details about the pilot or the crash were immediately available. The Cowley County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were at the scene Wednesday afternoon, and the Kansas Highway Patrol was still collecting information.
