A Liberal man has pleaded innocent to trying to kill his three children by slashing their throats.

Thirty-year-old Irineo Garcia entered the plea Wednesday in Seward County District Court to three counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Garcia’s children, ages 5, 6 and 7, were found injured on Oct. 18, 2010, at his Liberal home. He also tried kill himself.

The Hutchinson News reports police were notified of the attack after Garcia called his estranged wife.

Officers found him bleeding outside the home and the children inside. They have all recovered from their injuries.
