Now, before you get the wrong idea, I think it’s Obama’s fault the country is in such a mess, but in all fairness, he had a lot of help. Starting with you.
You, if you voted for him. The whole country got sucked up in the history making moment, perpetuated by the media. A media that is obligated to keep the citizens informed as to the capability of a candidate to perform the duties of president. Obligated to check the candidates past performance as a politician, business person and leader. That scrutiny was apparent when asking if the would-be vice president from the opposition party was qualified to be president, but not applied to the Democratic presidential nominee. So, we have to blame the historic frenzied voters and the media.
Not all voters were caught up in the historic frenzy. Some die hard voters heard the party line and were invigorated by the hope and change message. The young came out in droves because of the good looking, charming, articulate person behind the teleprompter, who promised their future would be better. They became victim to the “tell ’em what they want to hear” section of the election playbook. Two more parties at blame….the naive and the die hards.
Perhaps those most to blame are in congress. The president and the congress had control of the country. What they could not pass by law, because of judicial restrictions, the president enacted by fiat. The biggest prize in the game was the passing of the health care bill. It was a plan in the works since FDR. It had been written and massaged for over 6 decades and attempted to be passed over and over again, but failed because the majority of the voters and politicians knew it was a bad program. But now was the time. There was no way the opposition party could stop it. As a certain radio host said on KSAL, “we got it done.” It wasn’t so much what she said, it was how proud she was of the accomplishment. Blame to the congress.
Not just for the health care bill, but for not using better judgement when it comes to supporting or NOT supporting the president. How those in congress, who are supposed to know the constitution and what this country stands for, can support programs that, in the end, will lead to the downfall of this country, is a mystery to me. Come 2012, the re-election of Obama would be a mistake, but a bigger one, would be the re-election of those who support him in the congress.
