One person is in custody after a bank robbery in Arlington this morning.
Reno County Sheriff Randy Henderson says that around 10:46 a-m, law enforcement was sent to a the Citizen’s Community Bank in Arlington. It was reported that a white male had entered the bank with a shotgun and demanded money from the teller. After being given the money, the subject demanded the car keys from the teller and left the bank northbound on K61 in the tellers Mercury Marquis.
Approximately 8-minutes after the dispatch, Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Grant Blaylock was checking the area of U-S 50 and Salem for the suspect vehicle. He noticed a white male matching the robbery suspects description, pass him in a pickup. The man looked away when he passed, raising the officers suspicion. Trooper Blaylock also noticed that the pickup had no tag. He stopped the vehicle approx 1/2 mile west of Salem on U-S 50. While the Trooper was talking to the driver, he noticed a shotgun in the seat. He then removed the subject from the vehicle and saw a stack of money laying in the seat. Subject was arrested.
This investigation continues and the suspect is being interviewed by both Reno Co Detectives and the FBI.
