A Salina man was arrested for growing marijuana in his apartment after he helped take a friend to the hospital who died from an apparent drug overdose.

47-year-old Manuel Gracia of 154 N.8th #100 was dead on arrival to Salina Regional Health Center after being brought to the hospital by relatives and 47-year-old Larry Daniels in a pickup.

Salina Police Captain Mike Sweeney says there was no obvious signs of foul play and police are awaiting toxicology reports to determine exact cause of death.

During the investigation in the case, police obtained a search warrant of Daniels apartment at 148 N 8th #107 and found a marijuana grow operation inside.

Police seized about a half dozen pot plants in the apartment.

Daniels was charged with manufacture and cultivation of a controlled substance.
