UPDATE 3pm Sunday

A semi fire closes a portion of interstate 70 in Dickinson County early Sunday morning.

Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Ben Gardner says the fire was reported just after 5:30 am Sunday morning at mile marker 266 westbound, just before the Solomon exit. Dickinson County officials and The and The Kansas Department of Transportation closed the westbound lanes.

Just after 9:30 Sunday morning the Kansas Department of Health and Environment dispatched a HAZMAT team because of the items being carried on the semi.

The semi was loaded with Aluminum Hydroxide, along with pinter ink, motor oil and numerous other miscellaneous items.

Early Sunday afternoon emergency personnel continued to investigate and recover the site of the fire.

There are no reports of any injuries.
