Democrats Gather In Wichita To Get Energized

Kansas Democrats are looking toward 2012 after attending an annual event this past weekend in Wichita.

The Wichita Eagle reported that the focus of this year’s DemoFest was preparing for the upcoming elections after taking a beating in 2010.

Kansas Democratic Party chairwoman Joan Wagnon says the party faithful were told they don’t have to accept the results of the past election as the trend.

The attendees included local activists, county chairs and young Democrats. They participated in seminars focused on sending the right message, fundraising strategies and recruiting new candidates.

They also learned about the intricacies of the new Secure and Fair Elections Act proposed by Secretary of State Kris Kobach and that require voters to show a photo ID when voting in person next year.
