Woman Who Got Away From Police Turns Herself in Wednesday Evening

A 26-year-old Salina woman who escaped custody of police officers Monday afternoon after being arrested on warrants, turned herself in to authorities Wednesday evening.

Lindsay Houte walked into the Saline County Jail lobby just before 7 pm and said she wanted to turn herself in. Just after 3:30 Monday afternoon Houte was arrested at 562 Upper Mill Heights on warrants, escaped from officers after slipping out of handcuffs and running before falling down.

Houte was then placed in cuffs again and put in the back seat of the patrol car. Houte then was able to get through a small opening in a window between the front and back seats of the patrol car, and able to get out the passenger door and run, while officers were looking for keys that were dropped when she ran the first time.

Houte could face charges that will include obstruction of the legal process in addition to the warrants she was arrested on Monday.
