I have already lost my taste for the holiday season. With stores loading up on christmas, well before halloween and stores playing nothing but christmas music, well before thanksgiving, I ask, is it december 26th yet?
The commercialization of what should be a reverent holiday is what is killing it for me.
When I was growing up, there was delineation between the fall holidays. You celebrated halloween, then you celebrated thanksgiving and stores had enough respect for christmas to not starting their advertising and that until the day after thanksgiving.
The reason for the season has been lost. The child in the manger has been thrown out with the bath water in alot of businesses.
I hate to bring it to their attention but, the reason for the season is not them or even the almighty dollar or even their ridiculous black fridays. The reason for the season is a child that was born in a manger and grew up to die on a cross for all of us. Yes, I said it and if you don’t like it stop reading.
It is time for the reverence for christmas to be restored, the child returned to the manger and, political correctness be damned, it is time to acknowledge it with a hearty “Merry Christmas” instead of the repulsive “Happy Holidays”.
This is the greatest nation that GOD ever gave to man and I honestly cannot believe that we have allowed this to happen and have cowtowed to the rest of the world, so we don’t offend them. It’s easy to correct, but do we have the will or heart to do so.
Call me a scrooge, grinch, or what you will but, have a Happy Thanksgiving and a very Merry Christmas.
