A 20-year-old Salina woman, who was arrested Thursday at Saline County District Court, for an outstanding Salina Municipal District Court warrant, faces felony charges after she brought contraband into the Saline County Jail, while being booked in.
Saline County Sheriff Glen Kochanowski says that Bethany Garcia was being booked into the Saline County Jail about 9:45 am Thursday morning and while being changed into inmate clothing in the booking area of the jail, had a small package of methamphetamine drop out of her bra.
Garcia, then went back to district court, and when she returned to the holding cell Thursday evening to finish the process of being booked into the jail, a cell phone was found that belong to Garcia, and then she told the corrections officer she also had a small pocket knife in her possession. It is not known where Garcia had concealed the cell phone and knife on her body.
Garcia faces charges of possession of meth, and trafficking contraband into a correctional facility as well as the original municipal court warrant of failure to appear on a theft charge from October.
