Teen Suspected In McPherson Burglary Spree

Authorities in central Kansas believe they’ve solved a rash of burglaries and thefts with the arrests of 3 McPherson teenagers.

Police are now sorting more than $10,000 worth of stolen property and trying to identify the owners.

The Hutchinson News reports the suspects – ages 19, 16 and 14 – were arrested following a traffic stop Tuesday night. McPherson police Capt. Michael Terry says officers noticed a stolen ATV in the bed of a truck driven by the 19-year-old.

Officers recovered other stolen items and two McPherson properties, including two ATVs, three shotguns, a go-cart, various electronics, a collection of foreign coins and locks cut from storage sheds.

The thefts occurred over the past month in the city of McPherson and other communities in McPherson County. Charges are pending against the teens, who are suspected in more than a dozen thefts and burglaries.
