Lillie Rose Vernon, 96, of Gypsum, Kansas, passed away Friday, December 9th, at Salina Regional Health Center.
She was born in rural Lincolnville, Kansas on August 30, 1915, to Joseph and Mary (Sticka) Urbanek.
On April 3, 1937 she married Everett L. Vernon.
Lillie was a high school graduate. In 1969 she became a nurses’ aide, working at St. John’s Hospital. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Gypsum and a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Lillie is survived by her son Steve (Pam) of Gypsum; granddaughters, Jessica (John) Goertzen; Mary (Jason) Gordon; and grandson, Zachary Vernon, all of Salina; as well as great grandchildren, Riley, Cade, Landon, Jack, Charlotte, and Grace.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Everett Vernon; and all of her brothers and sisters.
Cremation has been chosen and a Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Gypsum.
