A 2-time sex offender faces life in prison when he is sentenced in Osage County.
Fifty-year-old James G. Beeson will be sentenced Monday on four counts of rape, three counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, and two counts of aggravated criminal sodomy.
The charges stem from crimes in 2007 and 2009 involving a 9-year-old relative of Beeson’s.
WIBW-TV reports that Beeson served more than a decade in prison in Missouri for a previous conviction for sex crimes.
On Monday, Chief Judge Phillip Fromme will hear defense motions before pronouncing sentence.
Because of his prior conviction, Kansas law requires Beeson to serve at least 40 years. Osage County Prosecutor Brandon Jones says he will argue for a life sentence.
