The Chancellor was not pleased with how the trails had gone for those accused of setting fire to the national legislative building. Germany was in a crisis, the economy was terrible and the “Bolsheviks” were determined to rule the world and Germany was their next target, at least according to the NSDAP. To deal with the crisis an emergency decree was passed suspending civil liberties and granting new emergency powers to the government including the new Chancellor.
In 1933 Germany, under the growing guidance of the National Socialist German Workers Party, set up a “special court” to deal with “criminal matters”. The Next year the Chancellor orchestrated the setting up of yet another “special court” the “People’s Court”. The framework was in place to deal with “enemies of the state”.
It came into being on 4/24/34. The panel of the Peoples Court was comprised of two professional judges and three lay judges selected from a “party” organization and the military. Both courts were outside the nation’s constitutional framework. Now the “rule of law” was the lap dog of the government.
The People’s Court was unleashed on the citizens of Germany for the next eleven years, beheadings and all.
Fast forward, 2011; the American Congress passed the National Defense Authorization Act. The NDAA was drafted in secret primarily by Senators Carl Levin (D-Mich.), and John McCain (R-Ariz.) It was passed in a closed committee meeting without hearing.
The NDAA expanded the President’s authority under the Authorization for Use of Military Force passed in 2001. Its supporters declare that the bill will make the United States a “battleground’. With this pretext they intend have placed the United States under the law of war and martial law, which can be applied at the discretion of the President. This is outside the nation’s constitutional framework
The President in his signing statement has assured us he will not use this new power against “We the People”. We “hope” not, and “demand” a change of the statute.
