KU Player McLemore Pleads Innocent To Misdemeanor

Kansas basketball player Ben McLemore has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of minor in possession of alcohol.

McLemore’s attorney, Al Lopes, entered the plea Thursday during a court hearing that McLemore did not attend.

The Lawrence Journal-World reports that McLemore was ticketed Nov. 4 after allegedly being caught with a drink at a Lawrence bar. The 18-year-old freshman from St. Louis also missed a court date in December.

McLemore is ineligible to play this season for academic reasons, although he began practicing with the team in January.

Kansas coach Bill Self has said any discipline for McLemore will be handled internally.

His next court appearance is scheduled for March 6.
