K&O Railroad informed Saline County on January 17th that construction of improvements to their Old 40 Highway crossing will begin on Monday, January 30th and be completed by Friday, February 3rd.

It will not be possible to accommodate through traffic on Old 40 Highway during this period of time.

Therefore, Old 40 Highway from State Street to North Street will be closed. Signs on both ends of the road closure will direct motorists to use Broadway Boulevard and State Street to detour around the closure. Motorists are advised to allow a few extra minutes of travel time to reach their destinations.

Local and emergency traffic will be provided access to private property within the sections of closed Old 40 Highway at all times but only from the side of the railroad crossing upon which the property lies.
