Stephanie Mott, state chair of the Kansas Equality Coalition, will speak at the Salina Public Library, Prescott Room, on Sunday, Feb 26th, from 3:30-5:00. The public will have an opportunity to hear about the proposed ordinance that would add “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” to Salina’s current human relations ordinance.
This presents the public an unparalleled opportunity to hear firsthand from a woman who is recognized both inside and outside the state for powerful presentations and straight talk on the issues. It will be the single best chance available for the public to get complete and knowledgeable information before the public hearings the following week.
Ms. Mott, a transgender woman, is also Executive Director of the Kansas Statewide Transgender Education Project. She has conducted over 100 workshops and presentations within Kansas, and is being sought to provide information and run workshops in other states, including Illinois and Tennessee.
“We will be providing the people of Salina with accurate information about the proposed ordinance, and about the discrimination lesbian, gay, bi and transgender Kansans face every day,” said Stephanie Mott, State Chair of the Equality Coalition. “We know the people of Salina, while they are opposed to discrimination; have many questions about our proposal. We hope to give them the answers they’re looking for,” Mott said.
After presenting her story and information on the LGBT fight for equality in Kansas, Mott will take questions from the audience.
