At the direction of the City Commissioners, the City of Salina will hold three separate open public forums to discuss the proposed amendment to Chapter 13 of the Salina City Ordinance.
The proposed amendment would add sexual orientation & gender identity as a protected class against discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodations. The forums will be facilitated by the City of Salina Human Relations Director, Gina McDonald.
All three forums will be conducted at the Salina Community Theatre.
Forum #1 Tuesday, February 28th 6:00 p.m.
Forum #2 Thursday, March 1st 3:00 p.m.
Forum #3 Saturday, March 3rd 1:00 p.m.
The purpose of this public information meeting is:
- To have staff members available to explain the current city ordinance.
- To allow opportunity for public comment, concerns and suggestions regarding the current ordinance and proposed amendments.
- Questions from the public will be compiled and responded to at a later date on the City’s website.
