A 14-year-old Salina boy is in the Saline County Juvenile Detention Center on charges of aggravated criminal sodomy.

Brandon Hanchett is alleged to have had inappropriate sexual contact with a preteen girl sometime beginning in February and Tuesday.

Police learned of the incident after the information was brought to the attention of a school counselor.

State law allows law enforcement to release the names of those 14 years of age or older charged with a criminal offense.
