OPINION: We Have Arrived

By John Fedele

Finally, after the November election and 200 years, we, as a nation, are close to becoming the sharing, caring all dependent nation we were meant to be. How could we have ever written a document that limited government? How could we have established a panel consisting of a group of non elected people who have the power to overturn laws made by elected officials and the leader of the nation? We all know that government should be responsible for the people. Government should provide health care, jobs, housing, and education. Government should provide a retirement for those who reach the age 50.

After November, gone will be those who received ill gotten gains from the blood and sweat of the common man; gone will be those industries that filled the air with poison destroying plants and moving animals from their habitat into extinction, gone are those who would deny women, children, the elderly, and impaired, basic health care; gone are those who would deny money to cities to fight crime and aid in disasters, and gone are those who would deny people the opportunity to visit our national parks and enjoy their majesty, by cutting monies to the park service.

I am so glad my grandchildren and their children will be able to have health care, attend the college of their choice, and live in the house they desire, all because of their government.

I thank those who will vote to bring these changes, you are true Americans. I also thank those who didn’t vote because they did not have a person in their party who could bring about such a historic change, and the beginning of a new and wonderful society. We have finally arrived
