One person was killed in a single vehicle accident early Sunday morning on U40, .25 miles west of Sage Rd, near Chapman.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 19-year-old Riley O. Knox of Abilene was traveling westbound on U40 when the vehicle left the roadway into the north ditch. The vehicle continued traveling westbound in the north ditch and went airborne into the creek. The vehicle struck the embankment and landed on its top.

Knox was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident occurred at approximately 2:00 AM Sunday.
