Kansas Democrats are preparing for the 2012 Presidential Preference Caucuses being held Saturday April 14th in Senate Districts around the state.
Democrats in the 24th Senate District that includes all or parts of Saline, Ottawa, and Dickinson Counties will meet at the Salina Senior Center at 245 N 9th. Registration begins at 1:00 in the afternoon with the caucus beginning promptly at 2:00.
The purpose is to start the delegate selection process for the national convention. Participants must be registered Democrats or do so at the caucus if the wish to participate.
Saline County Democrat Party Chair Shirley Jacques says she doesn’t expect as large a turnout as there was in 2008 when there was a contested race between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. In 2008 about 625 Democrats participated in the Caucus in the 24th district.
