Salina Speedway Spring Fling Splits Into Two Complete Shows

by Dusty Wiegert

SALINA, Kan. — With wet weather forcing cancellation of practice on Thursday night a deeper look was required for this weekend’s inaugural Spring Fling. After weighing the options with the weather forecast track officials have decided to split the event into two separate complete shows instead of one show spread over two days.

This decision was made to benefit the travelers who are coming from far away and to ensure that at least one of the two nights this weekend gets completed with payout.

The purse for both nights in all divisions has been split in half. The IMCA Modifieds will now race for $1,125 to win each night and $100 to start with a $50 entry fee. The IMCA Northern SportMods will run for $600 to win and $50 to start with a $40 entry fee. The IMCA Stock Cars will run for $500 to win and $50 to start with a $25 entry fee. The IMCA Hobby Stocks will run for $350 to win and $37.50 to start with a $25 entry fee. The Mini Stocks will run on Friday night only with the originally planned purse and entry fee. All payouts are based on a 20 car minimum.

Race times will remain the same for the event. Friday gates open at 4:30 with Hot Laps at 7:00, and Racing at 7:30PM. Saturday gates will open at 1:30 with Hot Laps at 4:00 and Racing at 5:00.
