Chris Daughtry to Perform at Fort Riley

By Dewey Terrill ~ Junction City Post

Musical performing star and former American Idol Television Show participant Chris Daughtry will perform in concert June 10 at Fort Riley.

Brad Carlton, Morale, Welfare and Recreation spokesman, confirmed Daughtry will perform on the main post outdoors in the grass area at Riley’s Conference Center at 7 p.m. June 10. Carlton noted traditionally these concerts are held at Marshall Army Airfield but the hangers there are not big enough to handle the anticipated audience. “We’ve never used Riley’s Conference Center as a venue for a concert. This is something new we’re going to start.”

Carlton noted Daughtry is on tour doing some military bases this summer to promote his new album. Some of his songs include “What About Now” and “Feels Right Tonight.” His performance will be part of the Victory Week Celebration at Fort Riley.

Carlton confirmed there will be no admission charge for the concert. “It’s a free concert. It is not going to cost a thing.” He added Daughtry is performing for the soldiers and their families.

The concert is not open to the general public outside the military but Carlton noted soldiers are allowed to bring guests. He said officials are expecting 5,000 to 7,000 people to attend the event.
