KBI Investigating After Shooting Possibly Involving Police In Junction City

By Dewey Terrill ~ Junction City Post

One person was taken by Life Star helicopter to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka following an early morning shooting in Junction City Sunday.

Geary County Undersheriff Tony Wolf reports at approximately 2 a.m. sheriff’s deputies were assisting Junction City Police officers at 713 ZSouth Washington Street at Club Eve with monitoring the parking lot at closing time. A disturbance broke out, and one subject fled behind the building where deputies were located. The subject produced a firearm in an aggressive manner, was shot one time, and collapsed.

Junction City EMS responded and transported the victim to Geary Community Hospital, and he was then airlifted to Topeka with what Wolf termed “very serious injuries.” The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has been contacted to handle the investigation into the case.

The names of those involved in the incident, including that of the subject have not yet been released.
