Hutchinson City Council Approves Amended Anti-Discrimination Ordinance

The city council in Hutchinson passed a measure that will add sexual orientation to the city’s anti-discrimination ordinance. The measure was amended and does not include transgender persons and only applies to employment termination and housing eviction

The 3-2 vote in Hutchinson came the morning after Salina’s city commission also approved adding sexual discrimination and gender identity to the discrimination ordinance by a 3-2 vote.

The motion protects gays, lesbians and bisexuals from employment termination and housing eviction in the city limits, but excludes transgender persons.
