Eva Anna Streit, 92, of Gardner, died Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Vintage Park Assisted Living Center, Gardner. She
was born May 16, 1919, in Tipton, the daughter of John and Sophie (Eck) Gengler. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, crocheting, shopping, fishing, bingo and Vegas trips. She had worked at the Big “B” restaurant in Cawker City and in Clay Center at the hospital.

She married Henry N. Streit on Nov 10, 1937, in Osborne, in a double wedding with his brother, Lawrence. Henry died in 1967. She is also preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Jocile Marie Elizabeth Streit; a grandson; a great-granddaughter; and her three brothers, Frank, Joe and Matt.

Eva is survived by nine children, Dennis Nicholas (Julie) Streit, of Salina, Joyce Joleen Streit Brummer (Ben Chauvin), of Ocola, Fla., Twyla Marlene Streit Cooksey (Gerry), of Knoxville, Tenn., Vicki Lynnette Streit Winters (Carl), of Gardner, Phyllis Elaine Streit Snow (Richard), of Omaha, Neb., Jacqueline Kay Streit Arteberry, of Mesquite, Texas, Darwin Darrell Streit (Barbara), of Topeka, Lynda Lea Streit Lindstrom (Dave) of Broken Arrow, Okla., David DeWayne Streit (Vicki), of Topeka; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, where a vigil service will be offered at 7. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 17, at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, Salina. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery Salina. Memorials are suggested to Salina Catholic Diocese or St. Jude’s Hospitals.

Pauline Evon Johnson, 68, of Minneapolis passed away Wednesday, May 16th, at Salina Regional Health Center.

Pauline was born in Wagon Mound, NM on July 6, 1943,to Delphina (Salazar) and Frank Eloy Lucero.

She was the wife of John W. Johnson, and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Minneapolis.

Pauline is survived by her husband; sons, Mark L. and Robert A. Johnson; daughters, Debbie Gerena and Carrie Ferguson; as well as 3 sisters, 1 brother, 11 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and 1 sister.

Cremation has been selected and memorial services will be at a later date.

Alicia Banuelos, 77, of Salina, died Monday, May 14, 2012. She was born May 20, 1934, in La Macita, Monte Escobedo, Zacatecas. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include daughters, Sylvia Esparza, Eloisa Garay, Maria Del Refugio, Elidia Esparza, Maria Guadalupe, Maria Del Rosario and Juana Martinez; sons, Jose Esparza, Ramiro Esparza, Heriberto Esparza, Guillermo Esparza, Leonardo Esparza, Bernardino Esparza, Fernardo Esparza and Alvaro Esparza; 54 grandchildren; and 49 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, and 7-9 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral, with a vigil service at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the cathedral. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Cathedral with burial in Santa Cruz Cemetery in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico.

Robert “Bobbie” Brown, 77, of Salina, died Monday, May 14, 2012. He was born Nov. 15, 1934, in Dodge City, the son of Harry C. and Mildred (Gall) Brown. Robert was a graduate of Ford High School, and lived in Ford and Dodge City. He worked for Cockey Brothers, Gray Company Feed Yard and 25 years for the Kansas State Highway Deptartment, from 1961-1985.

Robert married the former Betty Ruth Koehn on April 15, 1962, in Dodge City. He was a member of the Dodge City First Christian Church and Belmont Boulevard Christian Church, Salina, and Dodge City Moose Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gordon Brown; and an infant sister.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty, of Salina; one son, Brian Brown and wife Eustoquia, of LaMars, Iowa; and a daughter, Beverly Lett and husband Mike, of Salina. He has a brother, William Brown and wife Shirley, of Ulysses; and eight grandchildren, Andreya (Lett) Sooby and husband Chris, of Salina, Christopher Lett and wife Shelley, of Kansas City, Mo., Matthew Lett, of Lawrence, Jacob Lett and wife Whitney, of Olathe, Tyler Lett, of Manhattan, and Brianna Brown, and Marianna and Christian Olivares, all of LeMars, Iowa.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 18, at Belmont Boulevard Christian Church. Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina. Visitation will be private. Memorials are suggested to Presbyterian Manor, Salina.

Edward J. “Ed” Gall, age 77, of Salina, died Tuesday, May 15, 2012, in Salina. Mr. Gall was born Edward Joseph Gall on March 4, 1935, at Howells, Neb., to Joseph and Mary (Kluthe) Gall. He was a farmer and rendering foreman, working for Monfort of Garden City and later Dodge City. He was a veteran serving in the Army.

Survivors include his wife, Esther, of the home; one son, Kenneth, of Dodge City; three daughters, Carolyn Galbraith, of Garden City, Rosemarie Lovato and husband Levens, of Little Rock, Ark., and Theresa Stevens and husband Curtis, of Salina; four brothers, Dennis, of Lincoln, Neb., Leander, of Dunlap, Iowa, and Joe and LeRoy, both of Schuyler, Neb.; four sisters, Alice Mastera, of Ceresco, Neb., Sister Bernice Gall, of Des Moines, Iowa, Benhilda Spenner, of Fremont, Neb., and Marie Koley, of Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Jarred and Jacob Lovato and Emmalina and Olivia Stevens.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 18, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, where a vigil and rosary service will be Friday evening at 6:30. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, 230 E. Cloud St., Salina, with Father Kerry Ninemire as Celebrant. Burial will be in the All Saints Catholic Cemetery on East Crawford St., Salina, with military honors provided by Fort Riley. Memorials are suggested to the Sunflower Adult Care Center in Salina or the Salina Education Foundation.

Bettie Stewart, 84, Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of Minneapolis, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012. Bettie was born July 12, 1927 in Columbia, MO to Thomas and Grace Kehner.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Minneapolis Chamberettes. She was united in marriage with Lyman Stewart on April 28, 1972 in Bethany, MO. Bettie moved to Florida to be close to family in 1996.

She was preceded in death by Lyman in 1993; step-son Robert Stewart in 2011 and a step-grandson Mark Mackender.

Survivors include her children, Larry Hurst and his wife Rhonda and Donna Cohen and her husband Sandy; step-daughter-in-law Elaine Stewart; step-daughter Joyce Mackender; her sister Martha Campbell and her husband Bud; grandchildren Kelsey Hurst, Jamie Rivas and his wife Charissa; step-grandchildren Greg Stewart, Deb Walle, Pam Blechinger, and Cary Smith; great-granddaughter Darla; step-great-grandchildren Jason, Colton, and Tanner Walle, Kimberly Kaschke, Stephanie Pedersen, Preston, Sierra, and Madeleine Stewart, Matt and Alli Smith and Katie Blechinger; and numerous step-great-great-grandchildren.
