John A. Van Dame, 85, Minneapolis, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012 at the Salina Regional Health Center. He was born January 16, 1927 in Minneapolis to Herman and Mattie (Laird) Van Dame. John A. worked in maintenance for the Kansas Department of Transportation for 41 years. He also drove for ElDorado and the Ottawa County Health Department. John A. was a member of the noon Lions Club and the Golden Wheel Senior Center where he delivered meals on wheels.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law Larry Kay Baccus; brother Carl Van Dame; sister Vera Germany; and half-brother Herman Van Dame.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Shirley (Stelter) Van Dame of the home; daughter Janice Baccus of Ada; sister Elsie Larson of Minneapolis; two grandchildren, Kala Bruce and her husband Jason of McPherson and Kay Baccus of Ada; two great-grandchildren Alex Phillips and her husband Chris and Taylor Bruce.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M., Monday at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Burial will be in the Delphos Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 6 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 3 P.M. to 5 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Golden Wheel Senior Center or the Antioch Baptist Church.

Mary E. LeFan, 87, of Salina, passed on to her heavenly home on May 14, 2012, at Salina, Kansas. Mary Elizabeth Hart was born to parents Bert and Jesse Hart on Feb. 26, 1925, in Solomon, Kansas. On February 26, 1944 she married Marion LeFan in Salina. She was employed at St. John’s Hospital for 33 years and was a member of the Belmont Boulevard Church of the Nazarene.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Marion LeFan; a son, Weldon LeFan; a grandson, Tommy Lewis, and his father, Jim Lewis; and two granddaughters, Julie Mangum and Gina Cassel. She is survived by six daughters, Nancy Briand of Salina, Elizabeth Pfeifer and husband Len of Merriam, Kansas, Roberta Zadina and husband John of Smolan, Kansas, Doris (Lewis) Gagne and husband George of Wichita, Kansas, Shirley Baker and husband Scott of Smolan, Kansas, and Linda Trask of Wichita, Kansas; a sister, Vanetta Brumbaugh, of Junction City, Kansas; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
There will be no visitation. Private graveside services will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina. Memorial services will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Belmont Boulevard Church of the Nazarene, 2632 Highland Avenue, Salina. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Belmont Boulevard Church of the Nazarene or Hospice of Kansas. Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, is handling arrangements.
