Earlier this week Fort Riley officials confirmed a 21 year old soldier had been pronounced dead at Irwin Arwin Army Community Hospital after being found unresponsive in his living quarters Monday on post. The Army said the cause of death was under investigation. The soldier was identified as Private Thomas Lavrey of West Seneca, New York.
Now BuffaloNews.Com is reporting family members have confirmed Lavrey was fatally stabbed last Sunday in his Fort Riley living quarters. Officials of the Army’s Criminal Investigative Division at Fort Riley declined further comment other than to confirm there was an investigation into the death.
Lavrey had been at Fort Riley since September 2010. He was a utilities equipment repairer assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Special Troops Battalion, 1st Sustainment Brigade, 1st Infantry Division.
