Hospice-Veridian Request Sent Back To Planning Commission

The Salina City Commission Monday afternoon sent back to the Planning Commission a proposal by Salina Regional Health Center to move Veridian Behavioral Health services to the Hospice of Salina location at 730 Holly Lane.

The Planning Commission voted 5-2 to deny the request by the hospital, who then appealed to the City Commission to send back the proposal to the Planning Commission with more information obtained during the public hearing at the City Commission meeting Monday.

If the Planning Commission would still deny the request after considering the information sent by the City Commission, the issue could come back to the City Commission to make a final decision.

The public hearing lasted nearly 2 1/2 hours. Both those who opposed the proposal because of home values and safety concerns and those who support the plan spoke at the public hearing which will resume after Planning Commission takes up the matter, and sends a decision back to the City Commission.
