A 32-year-old Salina man has been arrested on a charge of aggravated arson.

Charles Newman was booked into the Saline County Jail early Tuesday afternoon, after a police investigation determined that Newman was involved in setting a fire in an outside hallway area of a basement apartment at 611 S. 2nd on May 4th.

Newman who had left the state, returned and was arrested.

The fire caused minor damage in the hallway.
