An employee of a Salina restaurant fell victim to a phone scam Tuesday, losing more than $1,700 dollars.

Lt. Scott Siemsen of the Salina Police Department says the 27-year-old Wichita woman, who was working at Logans Roadhouse, at 3050 Riffel Drive, received a call that an employee was arrested for DUI, and needed to be bonded out of jail.

The woman gave $1,734 to another employee to go to Wal-Mart to wire money to a home office of a bonding company in Mobile Alabama.

After the 2nd employee wired the money, he was told to pick up the person that had been arrested at the City/County Building.

The employee that was supposed to have been arrested showed up to work, and when it was realized the call was a scam, they attempted to call the employee who had wired the money, but were  unable to because he was still getting instructions from the scammer.
