It had been awhile since the Hawks looked up at a scoreboard and saw themselves on the losing end of things, 11 games to be exact, but that all came to a end in the second game of the double header against Hays Tuesday night.

The Hawks extended the streak to 11 by winning Game One 13-3 in a shortened game due to run rule.  The Hawks exploded in the first inning with seven runs and cruised on from there.  Connor Boyer and J.W. Maldaner each had two hits, drove in two, and scored twice. Pitcher Zach Nachbar was flawless once again remaining perfect on the season (3-0) giving up four hits and striking out three.  Nachbar all ready has one no hitter on his resume for the season.

Hays rebounded from the Game One beating and escaped Game Two by one run winning 4-3 ending the win streak.  Hays got the upper hand on the Hawks scoring twice in the top of the seventh inning breaking the 2-2 tie.  Aaron Mar gave Salina a burst of life leading off with a double and later scoring, but the Hawks would leave two runners on base missing a opportunity to tie or even win the game.

With storms possible tonight, the Hawks are still holding hope to get in a double header with McPherson tonight at Dean Evans.  First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
