Ruth Arlene Monasmith was born Feb. 15, 1934, in Junction City to Luke and Mabel May Owens. She passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at the age of 78.

She was retired from St. John’s Hospital and was an active member of Salina Heights Christian Church.

Ruth was preceded in death by her sister, Katherine Alexander; brothers, Jimmy, Gerald, David and Donald Owens; grandsons, Christopher Bowden and Gabriel Baize; and granddaughters, Elizabeth Monasmith and Destin Baize.

Survivors include her husband, Don E. Monasmith, of the home; children, Donna (Roger) Bowden, of Salina, Loretta (Bill) Rockwell, of Salina, Shawn (Mary) Monasmith, of Abilene, Eric (Sindy) Monasmith, of Amarillo, Texas, Blake (Kelly) Monasmith, of Salina, Dawn (Tim) Brady, of Bavaria, and Kim (Steven) Pinkall, of Salina; brothers, Carl (Pauline) Owens, of Salina, William Owens, of Burton, and Gene (Pat) Owens, of Salina; and sisters, Peggy McConkey, of Salina, and Betty Lauxman, of Haven; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Salina Heights Christian Church, 801 E. Cloud, Salina. Private inurnment will be in Prairie Mound Cemetery, Solomon. The family suggests memorials to the church, in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.

Lloyd George Peck, 93, of Salina, died June 21, 2012. He was born May 7, 1919, to Ross M. and Hattie A. Peck near Kipp, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Leslie Ann Peck; parents; and two brothers, Lewis E. and Marvin R. Peck.

Survivors include his wife, Emma; a daughter, Daniela Lam (Donald), of Salina; and a son, Patricio Franco (Van), of Garden Grove, Calif.

Rosary: 7 tonight at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Mass of Christian burial: 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Cathedral, in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina 67401.

Cynthia Ann Turner, 54, of Salina, passed away Thursday, June 21st, at Salina Regional Health Center.

Cynthia was born in Maywood, California on January 8, 1958, to the late Barbara (Massie) and Glenn  Shaw.

She worked as a CNA and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Cynthia is survived by her husband, Kevin Turner of Salina; son, David Shaw and his fiance Melissa Atlas of Salina; sister Glenda and her husband Steve Swander, of Manhattan; brother, Larry Shaw of Great Bend, Kansas;  grandchildren; David Shaw Jr., Maya Shaw, Roan Atlas; niece; Sarah Swander; nephews: Stewart Swander and Dylan Shaw.

Cremation has been chosen and there are no services planned.
