Frank H. Griffith, M.D. was born April 7, 1945 in Manhattan, Kansas to Paul W. Griffith and Florence D. (Hudson) Griffith. He passed away June 22, 2012 at age 67. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was married to Merilyn Braddock November 9, 1963.
Dr. Griffith, a Salina, Kansas Ophthalmologist, practiced medicine in Salina for over 35 years. He had a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston and earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School-San Antonio. He completed his residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Griffith was a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of the Kansas Medical Society, American Medical Society, American Society of Refractive and Cataract Surgeons, and Kansas City Society of Ophthalmology and Otolarngology. He was a board member of the Kansas Medical Mutual Insurance Company and Salina Surgical Hospital. He was an active member of the Sunrise Presbyterian Church and member of the Lions Club.
His survivors include his wife Merilyn; and their three sons, Paul G. Griffith, of Blue Springs, Missouri, Alan E. Griffith and wife Shelley, of Salina, Scott D. Griffith and wife Karen, of Salina; sisters Janet Sue Griffith Splichal and husband William, of San Jose, California and Brenda Jo Griffith Keller and husband Harold, of Arlington, Texas; and nine grandchildren whom he adored. Frank will be missed by all of those whose lives he unselfishly touched.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 26 at the Sunrise Presbyterian Church, Salina. There will be a visitation Monday, June 25 from noon to 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Donations may be made to the Paul W. Griffith Scholarship Fund at K-State, Sunrise Presbyterian Church, or to the charity of the donor’s choice in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina, Kansas 67401.

Gary M. Nelson, 55, of Salina, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012. Gary was born Nov. 29, 1956, in Salina.
An employee at Dillons for 40 years, he advanced to the position of produce manager. Gary was also a member of the Knights of Columbus for 35 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Jane Nelson; and his nephew, Christopher Camarena. Gary is survived by his son, Kenny Nelson, of Salina; brothers, Larry Nelson and John (Teresa) Nelson, all of Salina; sisters, Cindy (Jeff) Giacoletto, Susan Rogers and Sheri Kasper, all of Salina, Teresa (Terry) Follmer, of Eureka Springs, Ark., and Mary Kay (Bob) Camarena, of Overland Park; grandchildren, Kenny Nelson Jr. and Jaxyn Nelson; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. and a rosary service at 6 p.m. today, June 24, at Ryan Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 25, at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Interment will follow in the All Saints Catholic Cemetery.
