The trial for a 25-year-old Hutchinson man arrested back in early December after he reported to police that he sexually abused a 3-month-old child was continued Wednesday at the request of the defense.
Michael Sherman was charged by the state with aggravated criminal sodomy, after he allegedly admitted that he was alone with the child and was watching pornography on his cell phone, then sodomized the child.
Allegedly, Sherman visited two porn websites using a smart phone. Hutchinson Police Detective Scott Carlton testified at the preliminary hearing that he checked the phone, but the browsing history had been erased. Carlton says when he interviewed him at the Law Enforcement Center, he was very remorseful for what he had done, and it apparently started in the kitchen of their home.
The case falls under Jessica’s Law provisions, meaning he could be looking at a life sentence with no chance of parole for 25-years, if convicted.
