The annual Fireworks Spectacular in Ellsworth this year was threatened by a slight, but welcome, thundershower Saturday night. The rain and thunder moved into the recreation area around 8:15pm to 8:30 and cooled the crowd from a 100 degree plus day to the low 80’s. It was very much welcomed by the community that has been hot and dry for at least the last two weeks.
With the threat of more rain moving in, and lightning in the western sky, the city organizers decided to start the show about 45 minutes early. The crowd was treated to a “Spectacular” fireworks display, and simulcast patriotic music on 99.9fm, 99KG Country. The whole show lasted about 20 minutes.
