The Rev. Lloyd H. Swindler, 84, of Salina, died Sunday, June 24, 2012, at the Harry Hynes Hospice, in Wichita, from injuries he received in a recent fall and also renal failure. The Rev. Swindler was born March 3, 1928, in New Albany, Kan., to Gerald Wayne Swindler and Emma Opal (Schafer) Swindler.

He was a United Methodist minister serving many churches throughout Kansas. He retired from his last full-time appointment in 1994 and continued serving part time until 2003. He served in the Army Air Corp and then the Army as a corporal for several years, including tours in the Philippines and Germany. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Lions Club and the Kiwanis Club.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of the home. His children, Linda (Laurel) Seibert, of Great Bend, Susan (Larry) Varble, of Dallas, Patricia (Mike) Schwarz, of Wichita, Dale (Karmel) Swindler, of Salina, Philip (Jeannette) Swindler, of Leon, and Jeri Tellez, of The Colony, Texas; a brother, Charles (Verla) Swindler, of Sedgwick; a sister-in-law, Venice Swindler, of Wichita; and stepsister, Valeta Giesbrecht, of Katy, Texas; 14 grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 29, at the Church of the Cross United Methodist Church, 1600 Rush St., Salina, with the Rev. Greg Lindenberger and the Rev. Michael Gardner officiating. A graveside service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick, with the Rev. Jim Swank officiating. Military honors will be provided by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Memorials are suggested to the church. Ryan Mortuary, 137 North Eighth St., Salina, is handling arrangements.

Charles Earl Urie, 85, Bennington died Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at his home. He was born September 10, 1926 in Salina to Andrew and Olla Urie.

Charles was a 1945 graduate of Salina High School. In 1948 he was united in marriage with Wanda Krug.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Ken Urie; son-in-law John Twaddell and grandson Gregory Boss.

Survivors include his wife Wanda; daughters Jan Pilcher and her husband Rick, Carol Smusz and her husband Walt, Gaylene Boss and her husband Ken, and Jill Bolte and her husband Steve; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister Lila Foley.

Family graveside services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Salina or the V.A. Clinic in Salina. Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis is handling arrangements.
