UPDATE 5:23PM: The original version of this story stated that there were nearly 100 more firework complaint calls this year, in comparison to the July 4th holiday in 2011.
Salina Police officials have now said that was a clerical error and there were only 13 more calls this season.

ORIGINAL: Complaints about fireworks in Salina doubled this Independence Day holiday over 2011.
Captain Mike Sweeney says that between June 27th, when the sale of fireworks began, and July 4th there were 195 complaints about fireworks.
Last year there were 100 complaints.
Sweeney said officers handed out 5 citations for illegal use of fireworks.
Salina Fire Department made 23 runs for fire reports on July 4th.
The vast majority were for grass fires started by fireworks.
