Vernie F. Jones, 91, Newton, formerly of Tescott, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012. She was born July 19, 1920 in Lincoln County, KS to Laif and Hazel (Green) Greenway. She was united in marriage with Charles F. Jones in 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1989. Vernie attended the Tescott United Methodist Church.

Besides her husband she was also preceded in death by two daughters, Mary M. Emerie and Shirley J. Knox; brother Laif Greenway; sisters Reva Reinking and Alice Gourd; and two grandchildren.

Survivors include her son Charles A. Jones of Salina; daughter Carolyn F. Martin of Wichita; 17 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; and 56 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 P.M., Tuesday, July 17, at the Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Burial will be in Culver Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. Monday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to V.F.W. Post #3201 in Minneapolis and may be left in care of the funeral home.
