
While Ottawa County residents were happy to receive rain Wednesday evening, they did not appreciate the wind damage that came along with severe thunderstorms that went through portions of central Kansas.
Around 7:45pm, down burst winds blew down trees and power lines, fences and small sheds on the southeast side of Minneapolis . While there was no report of damage at the fair grounds where the Ottawa County Fair is underway, officials shut down activities at the fair early Wednesday night.
About 8:00pm there were reports of a roof blown off a house near Ottawa County State Lake and several trees were down on Goodwin Drive.
At 8:32pm, power poles were reported down at K-106 and 170th Road, and US 81 and Ivy Road, which is three to four miles southeast of Minneapolis.
There were also several reports of hail in Clay County.
