The Salina Animal Shelter is asking for the public’s help in finding out what happened to a dachshund that was found dead Saturday of apparent felony animal abuse.
The female, long-haired dog younger than 3 years of age, was found by police lying along street dead Saturday afternoon near the intersection of Westport and Crawford .
Rose Base with the Salina-Saline County Animal Shelter said they have received a couple of calls about the dog, that was seen laying the in road around 9:30 Saturday morning.
The dog had thick, heavy-duty electrical wiring looped several times around its neck and appeared to have been hanged by the wire and strangled.
