Thanks to motion cameras that are used to take pictures of wild game, a rural Gypsum man has been arrested for involvement in several small burglaries in Saline County, since May.

37-year -old David Ryals was arrested after a camera in a shed caught him stealing a tackle box.

Another camera caught Ryals taking a Salina Journal newspaper from a box next to a mail box, in rural Saline County.

Ryals was also apparently taking newspapers from several rural residences, along with curtains from one home and a jar of change from another home in the Smolan Area.

Ryals was booked into the Saline County Jail on Friday.

Saline County Sheriff Glen Kochanowski says more and more rural homes are beginning to use the cameras to help find suspects if they are a victim of burglary or other crime.

Kochanowski says the Sheriff’s Office has about 15 of the cameras that they use on a regular basis in several areas in the county where they are dealing with illegal dumping, and other problems.
