UPDATE: 53-year-old Gary Forsberg died Monday morning at a Wichita Hospital.
ORIGINAL – Thursday, July 26: Synthetic marijuana also know as “potpourri”, may be connected to an attempted suicide of an Assaria man Wednesday afternoon.
Saline County Sheriff Glen Kochanowski says deputies and EMS were sent to 218 Cox Way in Assaria about 4:15 to the report of a man having shot himself in the head.
The man, 53-year-old Gary Forsberg, was found in a bedroom. He became combative when medical aid was beginning to be administered, and 6 people were needed to restrain him.
He was taken by helicopter to Via Christi in Wichita.
Kochanowski says that Forsberg had reportedly been mixing potpourri with regular tobacco recently and he had started to act irrational during the last few days.
The sheriff did not release information on what type of gun was used.
