The Saline County Board of County Commissioners have appointed Hannah Furbeck to the position of Emergency Management Director, effective August 9th.

Furbeck has been serving as Interim Director since August 1st when former director Joe Koch was placed on administrative leave after being arrested in a domestic case.

Koch resigned his position on Tuesday.

Saline County Administrator Rita Diester tells KINA News that Commissioners interviewed Furbeck on Wednesday afternoon, and following the interview, offered her the position.

Diester says that the County Commission has the option to interview and hire a person for a position, and is not required to open the position up for applications from the outside.
