Kansas Deputy Charged With Child Endangerment After Leaving 4-Year-Old In Car

A Wyandotte County deputy has been charged with child endangerment after leaving her 4-year-old daughter alone in a hot car.

24-year-old Randi Rushmeyer is alleged to have left her daughter in her personal vehicle, unattended for 15-minutes with the air conditioning running on July 6, according to the sheriff’s department.

She parked the car in the garage behind the Wyandotte County jail on a day when the temperature was more than 100 degrees.

Her boyfriend also works at the sheriff’s office.  Rushmeyer said they were switching off while he got off work.
