Agnes Maria “Marie” Spies, 81, of Salina,  entered into rest on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the Kaye Pogue Hospice Center.

She was born Agnes Maria Dreher in Schoenchen, Kansas on March 31, 1931, the daughter of  Joseph Dreher and Philomena (Klaus) Dreher.  Agnes worked in food service for Salina PublicSchools,  and as a restaurant server in Salina.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a wonderful homemaker.

Family members who will deeply miss her are her children; Sarah Miller and son-in-law, Jason Miller, Judy Johnson, and Duane Spies; along with her seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Edwin Dreher, Ernest Dreher, Irvin Dreher, and Walter Dreher; two sisters, Lillian Van Hooser, and Rosina Rohr; and sister-in-law, Sue Dreher.

She was preceded in death by her two sons; David Spies and Alfred Spies; parents, Joseph and Philomena Dreher; three brothers, Alex Dreher, Norbert Dreher, and Victor Dreher; and three sister, Albertine Haselhorst, Angie Herrman, and Marcella Herrman.

Memorial mass will be held at 2:00, Friday, September 7, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral, with Father Frank Coady officiating.
