UPDATE: Fire Halts Production At Crestwood Thursday

A fire sent home the employees of a Salina manufacturer of cabinets and stone products.

Officials at Crestwood Inc at 601 Water Well Road, say that they hope to have operations up and going Friday after a fire in a dust collection system halted operations on Thursday morning.

There were no injuries in the mid morning fire that still had firefighters on the scene Thursday afternoon making sure the air quality was good and making sure nothing would still be smoldering.

According to a post on the Crestwood Facebook page, Thursday afternoon will be a time to get things cleaned up and all production employees should report for a regular shift on Friday.

UPDATE- A Crestwood representative called us back with more details- the fire was fully contained thanks to precautionary safety measures in place at the facility. There is a Containment system in place which runs all of the dust and particles through steel pipes- this makes it difficult for enough air to get in to start a large scale fire. The fire damaged some dust filtration bags that are replaceable- no permanent damage was sustained.

Crestwood will be fully operational by Saturday.
