Dean Hicks, 81, of Brookville, KS, passed away Wednesday, September 26th, at his residence.
Dean was born in Washington, KS on March 27, 1931, to the late Frances I. (Ryser) and Russell P. Hicks.
He attended grade school at Prairie View School in Morrowville, Kansas. Dean attended high school in Agenda, Kansas graduating in the class of 1949. He then attended electrical trade School in Salina, and was a member of Local Union 1054 for 4 years.
Dean was a lifelong member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW Local 661) from 1952 to the present. He founded D.R.C.L. Electric Inc in 1986 and managed it for 26 years. He was also a lifelong member of the VFW Post #1432 in Salina, and a member of Elks Lodge chapter in Abilene, Kansas.
His wife Diane (Ayers) Hicks of 36 years and their daughter Laura (Hicks) Scott of Lone Jack, Missouri survive him.
Dean is also survived by his first wife Jeanne Urcinas; son, Rick R. Hicks of Salina; daughter, Carol Swingle, of Montrose, CO one brother, Kenneth Hicks of San Antonio, Texas, 3 sisters, Wanda Bowman of Clyde, Kansas, Cleora McClaskey of McPherson, Kansas andPriscilla Phillips of Salina. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents formerly of Agenda, Kansas daughter, Deanna Murphy, formerly of Glenwood Springs, Kansas, and brother George Hicks of Agenda, Kansas.
Visitation wil be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at at Salina Bible Church at 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 1st, with Pastor Ron David officiating. Interment will follow at Hawks Cemetery in rural Cuba, KS.

Roland Lee “Ron” Fischer, 75, of Salina, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012. He was born June 2, 1937, at home, in Lincoln County, to Oscar and Hattie (Ruehling) Fischer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Virgil, Harold and Delmar Fischer.
Ron married Nancy Nelson on July 24, 1960, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Salina and enjoyed 52 years of marriage. Together, they helped start up Christ the King Lutheran Church, Salina, in 1963, and remain charter members to this day. Ron started Communication Service Company on Jan. 1, 1960, and changed the name to Ka-Comm in 2000, after which he still worked part-time. His sons joined him in the family business, first Scott in 1990, and then Craig in 1993. He enjoyed woodworking and Kansas State University sports.
Ron is survived by his wife, Nancy, of the home; daughter, Christine (Nicholas) Lermer, of Dallas; two sons, Scott (Mary), of Manhattan and Craig (Natalie), of Salina; sister, Janice (Steven) Stover, of Lincoln, Neb.; brother, Dennis (Kady) Fischer, of Westfall; two sisters-in-law, Olsie Fischer, of Haysville, and Joan Fischer, of Austin, Texas; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Salina.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at the mortuary.
