Four Charged In Valley Center Bank Robbery

Three men and a woman have been charged with robbing the Intrust Bank in Valley Center, Kan., U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said today.

A criminal complaint filed today in U.S. District Court in Wichita charged the following defendants with the Oct. 18 robbery of Intrust Bank at 142 N. Ash in Valley Center.

Henry J. Adams III, Wichita, 31, Wichita, Kan.
Terry G. Revels, 49, Wichita, Kan.
Dlaney M. Nixon, 23, Valley Center, Kan.
Veronica K. Johnson, 34, Wichita

An agent’s affidavit alleged Nixon and Revels entered the bank wearing ski masks and hoodies and carrying black bags. Johnson allegedly waited outside in a white Cadillac to act as a lookout. One of them yelled for the tellers to “get down, get down.” He pointed what appeared to be a black handgun at the tellers. The tellers complied and lay down on the floor. The robbers vaulted the counter and emptied the teller drawers of cash before fleeing the bank.

Responding officers located the white Cadillac near 81st North and West Street in Valley Center and chased the car for several miles before it stopped on Sheridan Court and the three male robbers fled on foot in different directions.

Nixon was arrested after a foot chase.

Officers lost track of Revels and conducted a sweep of the neighborhood until a homeowner contacted them. The homeowner said one of the robbers had broken into his house and tied up his 15-year-old son, stolen his cell phone and threatened to hurt him. The homeowner left work and returned to his house, Revels fled the house. Officers found Revels hiding in a pickup near 623 West Main and arrested him.

Adams and Johnson were arrested after officers stopped a blue Infinity near where the robbers abandoned the Cadillac.

The defendants will have an initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Wichita on Monday. If convicted, they each face a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000 on the bank robbery charge.
